The trick to painting nicely is not to paint thickly and to move the brush widely. Applying thin layers of paint will give a nice finish. There are tricks depending on where you are painting.
◆For wooden parts, sand the surface with 180-240 grit sandpaper along the grain to clean the base. Then, paint a thin layer of paint, let it dry, and then paint a second coat on top. (For a cleaner finish, lightly sand the surface after the first coat to remove any bubbles or debris that may have accumulated during drying.)
For indoor wood, after preparing the base, seal it with putty or similar, then paint over it with any type of paint to achieve a nice finish. For the first coat of paint, it is best to use 320 to 400 grit sandpaper.
◆ For iron parts, sand with 180-240 grit sandpaper, apply a base coat of rust-preventive paint, and then apply various paints. If rust has formed, it is important to thoroughly remove it when sanding.
The key to painting is to apply paint to about two-thirds of the brush, lightly squeeze the paint on one side of the brush with the edge of the container, and then apply it in two or three large vertical strokes.Next, move the brush widely horizontally to spread the paint out.
Make large vertical movements again to remove any unevenness.
